At Rhythm Garden Music (RGM), it’s not just about the music. It’s about building community, creating life-long friendships, and making a positive difference in Jasonville, Terre Haute, and the surrounding communities. In addition to a clinic space in Jasonville, RGM currently provides home and community based music therapy services for individuals and groups in Greene, Clay, Sullivan, and Vigo, counties. RGM is a human services agency committed to providing meaningful and dignified supports to improve the quality of life for the people supported. RGM is a certified Medicaid Waiver Provider on the Community Integration and habilitation (CIH) Waiver and the Family Support Services (FSW) Waiver.

• Early Childhood Music Therapy Enrichment Classes (weekly opportunities)
• Adolescent and Adult Behavioral Health (weekly group and individual opportunities)

• Pre-K through 6th grade Music Therapy/Music Ed hybrid school program
What to Expect:
The internship will be primarily made up of one on one sessions through the Indiana Medicaid Waiver. Interns will be given to opportunity to lead one group session up to three times per month in behavioral health. An RGM music therapist will be in the room during almost all sessions led by the intern. In addition to sessions, the intern will be responsible for completing assessments, treatment plans, session plans, quarterly/annual paperwork, a five-page paper with presentation on a topic that relates to their specific caseload and a legacy project of their choosing. RGM is not able to provide interns with a stipend or housing at this time. Interns will have the opportunity to attend Association for Indiana Music Therapy (AIMT) meetings. CPR, First Aid training, TB screen, and background check will be provided by RGM at no cost to the intern. Interns will need to have reliable transportation however and valid car insurance; travel from client to client will be with a staff MT-BC. A list of area apartments will be provided upon request. Liability insurance must be in place before first day of internship and maintained by the intern through the last day of internship. A legal affiliation agreement is not required by RGM.
Internship Experience:
The typical RGM internship will be a 40 hour week with potential for flexibility. The minimum weekly hour requirement is 20 hours per week. Hours will be between 8:00AM and 6:30 PM and shall not exceed 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. One to Two Saturdays per internship may be required. The work week will include a caseload of approximately 20-24 individual sessions and at least 1 group session (private contract/behavioral health) with the opportunity for additional group sessions in early childhood settings and/or long-term care. Caseload will build up gradually, starting with 3 clients the first week of internship. Each week, the intern will have time at the RGM office and be able to utilize the WIFI, instruments, and small resource library.
Entry Level Requirements:
A basic understanding of developmental disabilities and the ability to play songs utilizing I, IV, and V chords in at least four keys on both piano and guitar is required. A music skills assessment will be given during the on-site interview as well as a discussion about past experience with populations served. The intern should be self-motivated and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
